Oku Pin

Here is a dream from 2021 that I had several years before moving from Taos, NM to the mountains east of Albuquerque, NM….

I am standing on a mountain top of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. There is a woman in front of me, and she is holding a chalice. It is the golden hour, and she tells me, “Go to Oku Pin”.

Even though the woman with the chalice urged me to move on down the rio to another mountain, I stayed up north for another few years.

I came back to this dream a few weeks ago while talking to my friend. There were many moments of certainty that came rushing through as I recalled this dream.

The word that came to me was ‘placement’.

As the why of it keeps unfolding, each return to the dream is an invitation to hold this physical space where I live with so much love and care.

From our neighboring mountain to Oku Pin, may all beings find their rightful place in freedom and peace.

***Oku Pin means Turtle Mountain, and is commonly called the Sandias today. My husband’s teacher told a story of a Jemez man named José Toledo who shared with him a much older name for this mountain.
